* K5 J9 Z& e- j- v6 isociety led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
) O9 g4 P# T/ a7 U6 pvolunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
ages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
organizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more
sustainable communities.

Position Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
and leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
non-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
: h: a; O( Z+ a6 p( \+ M. `$ c. Tworks within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
policies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
" b/ w, o% g0 b/ C  `& h8 Caffairs at all times.

Primary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
vision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
arrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
6 W- N+ F4 p" |5 i* b2 J7 X& T$ D: nmedia/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
* R- C$ `3 a: Q9 Q. Ufor the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
5 d/ H& t! M# t% Y2 d: g5 @" e) Bto implement the organizational policies.
% T7 f# c  h+ n3 i' s: J
: h0 M1 T% A" h+ O: W: iPLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
0 }& e* G+ e0 b9 Bas per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
2 h4 d6 E9 I4 o" _services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
6 H3 f, f/ x2 z( p* bthe right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

In addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
development of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
that bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
payable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
the organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

0 T* |$ E2 V$ a6 @Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
including a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
) G* @) d+ C- npartners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
organizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
work in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and

PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
processes an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
proposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
with youth.
