U of A professor and his wife charged in alleged sexual assault of minor. S& g: p9 \& i) {+ y g

A prominent cancer researcher at the University of Alberta, and his wife, are facing a number of charges related to the alleged sexual assault, and confinement, of a teenaged girl.6 {& j6 R! L3 A
2 ^2 k/ a$ R$ d4 M* O& l. i( ?4 @Zhixiang Wang, 50, and his wife Xinmei Chen, 49, were arrested at Edmonton Police Service headquarters on February 14.3 M0 b- p* ~, K2 q

Wang is facing charges of sexual contact with a minor, and sexual assault – for reported incidents dating back to between Nov. 1, 2009 and May 31, 2010.

Chen is facing a charge of unlawful confinement of a child for alleged offences from May 31, 2010 to Jan. 29, 2013.

& H% w: O& ?7 I& f% k" _) nThe University of Alberta issued a statement Friday, and confirmed the couple are both employed by the U of A, but are on leave.
