# D8 Z+ c' W* j! @Note: Introduce each new food individually and for 4-5 days before introducing any other new food.7 B" f# e& Y3 c$ L6 R
Babies do not require solid foods before 4-6 months of age. Until then, breast milk or formula provides the best form of nutrition for the child. Solids may be introduced in the following order:5 Y9 a, p) D3 ?9 g. o
4-6 moths -- CEREAL (start with rice, then later, barley, oatmeal, sobee.)$ z4 X4 P, v$ t+ y9 g, }5 a; L
5-7 months -- JUICE (Apple juice diluted with equal parts water, up to 120ml(4oz) once or twice daily. No orange or citrus juice until 1 year)( S* v' B! p& R: b$ e
5-7 months--VEGETABLES (Squash, peas, sweet potato, carrots, (no spinach, broccoli.).Orang and yellow vegetables first, then green./ h/ ^! D7 v* K8 _# B w
6-7 months --FRUIT (Apple,pear, banana,peach,apricot,etc)
) K" `5 E' I/ k6 T& x# l7-8 months--DAIRY (Yoghurt, cottage cheese, mild processed cheese.)- e, K! f& o; Y( j" C$ H
8-9 months--Meat & Fish (Chicken, veal, beef, lamb. (no pork or fish until at least 1 year).
% }: I4 i; ]0 |, Z! z10-12 months--Eggs (Yolk from 10-11 months, egg white 11-12 months)
R# g$ L+ [/ |' s D0 UIN bottle fed babies, iron fortified formula should be used until 12 months of age. After 1 year homogenized milk can be used.6 _4 `8 f$ i1 T; E+ i! x8 t+ Z# C: N
1. All solids including cereal should be fed by teaspoon and not mixed in the formula.6 w- b1 L4 u2 H0 q* R2 | `7 @
2. Start with 1 to 2 teaspoons twice daily and increase according to your chld's needs.& B8 t% a0 x) O$ `* M. y
3. introduce new foods one at a time, generally 1 per week.
& S2 w0 l( W2 b+ }, S$ ^) c4. Individual food products are preferred to mixed cereals and other mixed foods.
+ q3 E4 D; B ~+ e5. Solids should be given after nursing or formula feeds, until 6-months to promote milk intake.( E |/ x( ^- ?( R# W
