Position: Outreach Worker

Job Description
- promote the Centre’s ISP to community organizations, businesses, educational institutions, etc. by in-person presentations, phone or sending relevant information
- promote ISP in various media: newspaper, radio, newsletter, etc.
+ r- @2 i' R' g- }; w-  develop or update brochures, pamphlets, information packages, etc. for ISP
7 l: Q: d5 }- N2 o/ f" m) ~- provide support to ISP staff
- recruit new members to the Newcomers Club and maintain existing members
( |* X7 C" N7 h- promote, organize and coordinate the Newcomers Club’s activities
5 J' U3 o/ h4 A( `& D" l1 K# n- outreach in different areas of the city where new immigrants are concentrated
- attend meetings relevant to ISP and outreach work to advocate issues and concerns of new immigrants
. }  ^& v$ `6 Y3 b- adapt to a flexible working schedule to accommodate the program’s goals
- fulfill the goals and objectives of ISP as contracted by funder
6 F2 O  f' _- V. t6 i: J- report writing, data collection, conduct evaluations, budget management, etc.
9 Z- z; X5 x8 P4 q- recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with outreach activities

Qualifications
" _: X# a# \/ q4 v' q& v- degree/diploma in social work/human services and eligibility to be registered to area of discipline; relevant experience with community services/projects/immigrants will be considered
- knowledge of immigrant issues and concerns, community resources and services available
- experience in working with community groups and community liaison workers
( ^8 D/ a! H$ |# O3 O- good computer skills using Microsoft and Chinese software
% q. c0 ]+ x! d! q9 F; T% U- speak & write Chinese (fluent in Mandarin preferred)
. M: A. k0 |6 S3 P# m! a) `- good interpersonal and people skills
- good organizational and coordination skills
- valid driver’s license

Salary
& R) O; v5 n4 }; q" K! a4 x- $12/hr for 17.5hours/week, April 18 to March 31, 2007
