Position: Outreach Worker

Job Description
2 L6 Z' j3 ]4 ]6 ]1 I- promote the Centre’s ISP to community organizations, businesses, educational institutions, etc. by in-person presentations, phone or sending relevant information
9 x( r* }' C4 ~2 ^' l/ G; l3 A( h- promote ISP in various media: newspaper, radio, newsletter, etc.
-  develop or update brochures, pamphlets, information packages, etc. for ISP
1 k. y! i/ e2 N- z5 S! H/ V. W- provide support to ISP staff
( [& M, s( {  z; {( i$ [9 \- recruit new members to the Newcomers Club and maintain existing members
- promote, organize and coordinate the Newcomers Club’s activities
, [, e, m5 M9 S: i* y4 q- outreach in different areas of the city where new immigrants are concentrated
- attend meetings relevant to ISP and outreach work to advocate issues and concerns of new immigrants
+ ?0 _, T# [, L  X0 u. n0 `$ I0 O" ]- adapt to a flexible working schedule to accommodate the program’s goals
- fulfill the goals and objectives of ISP as contracted by funder
- report writing, data collection, conduct evaluations, budget management, etc.
- recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with outreach activities
- assist with front counter services as needed and assigned

Qualifications
- degree/diploma in social work/human services and eligibility to be registered to area of discipline; relevant experience with community services/projects/immigrants will be considered
- knowledge of immigrant issues and concerns, community resources and services available
- n7 {: T! _/ [' s- experience in working with community groups and community liaison workers
- good computer skills using Microsoft and Chinese software
- ?3 o+ B4 o4 ?, S( Y$ I; V- speak & write Chinese (fluent in Mandarin preferred)
5 r0 }9 K; f: ~' j4 Z' _+ b+ c- good interpersonal and people skills
( f# Q8 N; `( y: I/ O# X4 r  x- good organizational and coordination skills
- valid driver’s license

Other
- d" U6 l7 N+ u# j6 H, @4 R- must undergo security and child welfare check at own expense

Salary
) `9 ]  m# r4 L3 l1 ^+ `- $12/hr for 17.5hours/week, April 18 to March 31, 2007
