provide supplemental support to newcomers who have complex needs.

- x. j, P5 G3 `* l- s Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services. ( V# P7 u/ ^+ b$ ]% R
The position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff,
1 E; `, J# u' n% t# xnewcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social
2 Q; W2 l9 V' j8 nWorker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as
( B* z( ]' z! L7 w) w Aneeded. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for / G( F! G1 S- a: u+ f2 B) ], x
newcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial
5 Y- h( y$ w! R2 |assessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-7 r: u3 B' s! T
centered delivery model.

Understands and adheres to professional ethics related to social work.

within the city of Edmonton and New Canadian Health Network partners. ; S0 D* I3 c" e w
Providing holistic information or advocacy services for immigrants and refugees served. 4 e0 A, Y" Z: D! R. ]* K* N
Developing of social networks and community supports for newcomer families.
! k* B' i% M' Q8 }+ J2 Q Provide intake, needs assessment, referral, case plans and action plans to support - ?" j2 e7 b* o' H4 P8 W
newcomers in settling and fully participating in community.
' p2 X' F) N7 D# X) D Work in partnership with settlement workers or cultural brokers to provide supplemental

Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers.

Qualification
' M( W- C* g+ t! p: H- {- {& E8 G 7 J* s! O( E5 {( y
Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and 1 C) U2 c! A2 F; t
experience in Social Work or related human service fields. 2 n" [8 q; m: T: e
Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family
$ Z2 G5 @8 R' C9 Vsupport needs / o4 ~; `! x- ^3 X3 J' v
Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications 5 d: N/ _# e* y' @, E* q$ B# p* G
Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages + [6 I- F I- a$ }8 e# F1 t
Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate 9 I4 Y+ h6 r- v8 ^4 r. ]2 m: ^
insurance coverage for work
