* D5 s9 k2 D. j* S Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or
+ g; p$ O: v% jcommunity cultural brokers from New Canadian Health Network partner organizations to
/ g- t) u4 }- L! lprovide supplemental support to newcomers who have complex needs.

Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services.
4 h' @8 p7 \: C' n# V+ F! {" t4 @The position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, # K1 V$ F/ T6 \+ p5 X% h4 m
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social
/ Y% u6 |1 {0 K0 a$ F4 jWorker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as " u# I' A3 U6 c7 m: H9 K% P. Q
needed. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for ) g" o1 U' T- Q* h8 ^
newcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial
4 C6 [) F9 m2 F7 T0 oassessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-

Understands and adheres to professional ethics related to social work.

within the city of Edmonton and New Canadian Health Network partners.

Developing of social networks and community supports for newcomer families. $ i" R2 _0 k( o. I8 e/ e
Provide intake, needs assessment, referral, case plans and action plans to support 1 m9 @" l) J. r8 V0 a o* S) E
newcomers in settling and fully participating in community. * a3 v+ @0 L5 i- H& {
Work in partnership with settlement workers or cultural brokers to provide supplemental + m, F0 B6 O! }' E
case plan support for clients who have complex needs.

Qualification 7 {6 f* u* v& _# S0 K/ v
I. T* _& R- \: {5 m) F Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and o2 }; f5 c* F9 c U' J
experience in Social Work or related human service fields.
+ g+ Q' H8 G8 d5 s0 h0 h Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family $ g3 z& l. w( d. Q" I. W
support needs

Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages

Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience working in a related field 3 M+ A C' k& [
