Duties

: A# t- [1 H9 [) h0 O5 g( P3 ^ * Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications1 X: z' [1 P) i' a& R0 i
* Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis# B7 G- u- I E& y. B5 b
* Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance$ m4 S/ `2 }2 _; S- ^, P @( I
* Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students 9 T9 J* m; E8 u9 b
* Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies
+ G* j. v8 M/ p9 U3 S3 n2 v! Z * Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs( M$ Z5 A: u" `; G. e: y
* Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment

Qualifications

* Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred) c- M( Q0 ^. B! G
* Minimum of one year of related experience in some aspect of analytical mass spectrometry is required
