为了帮助改进爱城市容和使我们有更好的生活环境, 爱城华人联合会Edmonton Mandarin Immigrant Society (EMIS) 将在星期日(五月一日) 参加爱城的the 18th Annual River Valley Clean-Up. 我们已同River Valley Cleanup Coordinator 取得联系, 他安排我们同其他几个社区组织负责清洁William Hawrelak Park. 我们需要大量热心的义工来帮助我们，希望网友们能抽一点时间来积极参加我们这次为社会服务和保护环境的公益活动。

我们清洁William Hawrelak Park的活动大约会在一小时内结束。清洁活动结束后，我们将邀请朋友们来参加我们的足球和排球活动。

若想参加本次义工活动，请跟贴报名，以便统计人数。

本次活动的集合时间是：
星期日(五月一日) 上午十点三十分
10: 30 am, Sunday (May 1, 2005)

本次活动的具体集合地点是：
Picnic Site #1 (Sheltered)
William Hawrelak Park

参加本次活动的朋友们要自己负责和安排往返的交通, 按时来到集合地点, 汽车可免费停在Picnic Site #1附近的停车场，不要在车内放贵重物品和钱包。

Volunteers Needed for the 18th Annual River Valley Clean-Up

With the arrival of spring, Edmontonians are being asked to donate a few hours of their time to clean up our city’s neighbourhoods, parks and river valley as part of the 18th Annual River Valley Clean-Up. Those interested in volunteering should assemble at Victoria Park (12130- River Valley Road) on Sunday, May 1, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.  Anyone who would like to participate but is unable to attend on this day can pre-register and clean up on a day that best suites their schedule.

No heavy lifting is required, and garbage bags and location assignments will be provided. Gloves and appropriate outdoor footwear are recommended.

“Volunteers have an important part in preserving the integrity and beauty of our parks,” says Kevin Moore, coordinator of the annual clean-up campaign. “Calls are already coming in from people who want to volunteer for this year’s clean-up. It’s great to see people take such care and have so much pride in Edmonton.”

Over the past 17 years, 19,983 Edmontonians have spent in excess of 48,365 volunteer hours collecting 26,278 bags of garbage that had accumulated in the river valley over the winter months.

Everyone is welcome!
•       Sign up as an individual or group.
•       Pick up litter from your assigned area. (Garbage bags provided).
•       Leave your filled garbage bags on a nearby roadway or trail for City staff to pick up.
No heavy lifting required.

Bring :
•       Gloves
•       Sturdy shoes
•       Appropriate clothing
•       Enthusiasm!
* Note: If you are unable to participate on May 1, you can pre-register and clean up on a day that best suits your schedule.
