When I came to Edmonton, I went to TD bank to open a checking acount. I was told as long as I maintained the balance above 1000 (anytime), I didn't need to pay any transaction fee.

It is true, and there are also restrictions on how many times you can use the ABM or go to the teller, but for me, I didn't need so many transactions so I didn't pay any fee.

When I had been here for just over 1 month, I went to TD bank again to apply for a Credit Card, telling that I had a job, which they could verify by checking my account. By the way, I had deposited 2 paychecks to my checking acount by that time. I got my credit card in about 2 week later without paying any deposit. {0 {) |2 R% R# i$ ^+ [

If you think you might be in a similar situation like mine, you can do the same and you don't need to waste your money or face the inconvenience of the frozen deposit. |
