Position Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
7 P; X3 Z4 w4 q# [/ rand leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
6 L+ F! c; N1 Y5 Fnon-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta. The ED
: O; H: U! c8 Z4 ~works within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and& F( d% [! }: y. j
policies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's( f# ~. O. O9 U( g
affairs at all times.

Primary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a1 N$ O) y1 Q0 Y# L2 P7 N
vision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative: u7 h- D# H% l8 k6 e/ }( x8 j' G( R
arrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
* l' K1 Q1 t! g( r4 bmedia/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
8 W0 L: A* x* k5 a# o" mfor the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures" {" v+ o; v: \
to implement the organizational policies.0 a' h4 a/ S: b: o+ y) K- A
0 z7 l* I8 a% H/ }/ ]
PLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded4 p) T& C: U/ s7 r! D% i. [* T
as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and& W1 n, f; V6 ~* o
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
( N: a; ~5 i/ C: kthe right abilities to help further the organization's mission. , n X7 J4 G& s7 Q+ m% A; b* C
, x$ w9 S# n" E+ \In addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
8 O8 d9 T2 k, P3 |) l; R3 {development of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
9 v5 O; _0 M, fthe funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure7 j+ b( ~$ j/ s& b# b. c
that bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts

Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
9 ?2 p3 d8 p$ D! u$ Cincluding a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government% R' X! P' K" j( |: `: z9 q) }
partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
: }3 i; d% \; Horganizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to- T- J" {- }9 b+ w! B( n
work in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and, V, L* ?6 @, Q( B+ ?
managing projects and budgets." u$ a- x: C: T. Z: [: C2 G
6 }2 L. r/ }& E% V/ U8 T! EPLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
