The Organization: Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! is a registered nonprofit
5 F$ Y6 c! ~7 k6 d; Dsociety led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
  j3 C" k' x+ T' k- nvolunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
2 I8 m9 Q; J0 v8 f: Iages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
organizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more
sustainable communities.

8 ~8 z. }& s5 ^5 n& s% t# N% a) wPosition Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
and leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
& o* B& V2 N* m8 }; Z2 ?non-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
8 K+ y, {) P/ Z* e% x/ qworks within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
policies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
affairs at all times.

Primary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
6 w# _+ Y: R6 R  A" H8 T, cvision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
arrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
media/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
to implement the organizational policies.

& g; p. C8 U# {PLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
  P4 c  |& V" ~0 M8 Cservices; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
8 H2 S- f4 T( j& Xthe right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

4 f" A7 _+ A7 UIn addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
development of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
4 |8 |, Z* {: e1 p: B7 Hthat bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
/ j4 A  N2 Y9 k6 }payable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
- s8 F$ D. D3 E8 o8 p2 Z3 {- rthe organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
including a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
" C/ u# D7 Z" J/ O6 J9 C( ]! Lpartners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
5 u5 ~1 V- \+ }" M: |) O( Z6 Jorganizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
work in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
& |3 x* i: ^5 L- o+ omanaging projects and budgets.

! ^4 [9 w5 f% uPLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
processes an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
proposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
with youth.
