The Alberta Tories continue to slide, while the NDP surges and the Wildrose maintains the lead, according to the latest election poll released Tuesday morning.. m' q. y d6 ?- L( T

The NDP is dominating Edmonton at 51%, according to the survey, and is in a three-way race in Calgary.3 O2 X1 c6 q8 A2 B8 d

The telephone poll of 3,121 Albertans conducted Monday showed that compared to a week earlier:$ R& g# d9 S; {# X: V- T+ q$ P! U, F
4 \' ^' s: @; P: a% i( ?Wildrose is flat with 24% support, P" w- o3 v) z& N- ]. M; w* p
NDP increased to 23% support, up 3%5 [7 ^: {. |8 X
The PCs dropped to 18%, down 3%
' T& f8 T$ ^2 C* k) XLiberal support is down a point, to 8%

A- a# g0 n' |8 GThe survey was conducted by Mainstreet Technologies.

) m! Y0 g: {' b“One thing is becoming clear at this stage of the campaign, the effect of the budget and residual anger to the governing PCs will have a lasting impact on the outcome of this election,” said Mainstreet’s Quito Maggi.. x1 d+ O4 u; A1 f- P

Maggi said there is still time for the Tories to swing momentum as, with nearly three weeks before the May 5 vote, “more and more people will be paying attention.”

“The window of opportunity for that correction is closing quickly,” Maggi noted.

& l L) n. {( J: f1 `He said the election could turn into a two-way race between the NDP and Wildrose, leaving the possibility Tories shift votes to the Wildrose, or vice versa, to stifle NDP momentum.
