3 E" c' \ K% S& ~EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.

}# I/ {4 P5 o0 lThe item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.

* ?3 n2 f" P! a7 W3 @% JPolice evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.

"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."5 _* g7 h. T, H
