EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.
& l: m- a" G; I' S2 E; V7 B
7 ]. N( h+ f" h5 t2 ~The item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.

Police evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.& @& j/ f9 u: N: j; y; W
8 |0 E8 N. H, q$ y+ n" _9 b* P"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."
