EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.6 s6 b7 l8 C l; n$ o: S2 U
8 u8 y9 f! X6 t* ^9 F2 QThe item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.4 K: b) o0 o7 W" J

Police evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.

2 H0 o& ~0 H. T"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."
