WHEN: Whenever you rotate the steering wheel all the way to the left or right steering stop and hold it there.
7 s9 H& i0 G# S i) vWHAT: The pressure relief valve inside the pump is dumping excess power-steering hydraulic fluid back into the reservoir. It's supposed to do that, although maybe a little more quietly. ]5 D; ^6 f* ^9 @6 U
URGENCY: No big deal.) {& \ u& m( o9 ^
FIX: It's normal. Actually, you should check the level of power steering fluid in the pump. Don't hold the wheel hard on the stop like that; it annoys pedestrians and is tough on the belt.& D3 b2 D3 {, q$ ?* C4 Q/ {

. j% H U, Z5 o' I. ~; j. LWHAT: Belt squeal. A loose or glazed belt, bad tensioner or misaligned pulley.
- y& ~2 d' c- I% V% i8 jURGENCY: Make an appointment, and don't take a long trip. This won't go away on its own--until just before the belt fails.
