Students at the University of Alberta have voted in favour of mandatory bus passes, a move that will cost students an extra $75 every term.( ~1 v& y" q& j( T" e7 V

A vote held earlier in the week saw 84 per cent of students in favour of the passes, which will be mandatory regardless of whether or not they ride on transit.

The U-Pass will give students unlimited travel on public transit in Edmonton, Saint Albert and Strathcona County.

Getting to this point took five years of debate and negotiations, said U of A student union president Samantha Power on Friday.
