We live in Magrath Heights and we are currently struggling with our 5-year-old daughter's to Kindergarten registration. I wonder if there are parents in Magrath, MacTaggart area who are struggling with this issue as well. I wish to explore possibilities to group up and help each other out on making our lives easier with the half-day kindergarten program.7 e* T6 z/ i0 y2 V2 ~

To kick it off, here are my two cents. & u; l% b0 D! E; d

We need to make up our mind as to which school to register to since one kid can only send in ONE registration at a time, and it can be really hard to switch school in the middle of the year. Currently there are two options for my daughter:7 W/ D# `0 \3 E8 R1 c; @6 b* m5 ^ h8 T
, J- n6 [# T# X% f) o6 gOption 1: Regular program - a new school - Nellie Carlson(http://www.epsb.ca/schools/newsc ... ions/nelliecarlson/) is under construction and scheduled to open September 2016; boundaries not finalized yet. & f9 `7 y+ z2 V9 `. p1 s
No on site child care available. 6 N9 C. D8 P- ~7 T
9 ?2 f# y/ i& ^" f( u6 N- UIF we fall under the final boundary, what to do with the afternoons? My husband and I both work full-time 30 minutes drive from home. I maybe able to take one afternoon off in a week, part-time is not likely an option.

8 l3 X6 G5 D0 ~, P& u$ W/ K& a" j0 QOption 2: Mandarin Bilingual program - Parkallen School where there is a YMCA KinderCare close by, $755 a month, AND there is a wait list.; s3 Z1 y& l/ P/ w/ m0 R
Honestly, I wish to send my daughter to the Mandarin Bilingual school, but again, there is the afternoon issue, YMCA is not guaranteed and expensive. I wonder if there are other parents considering this school and we could come up with a program to support each other and incorporate with Chinese elements.
