Newcomers are being offered some help when shopping for a home in Edmonton’s tight housing market. 7 @( s( Y* Q& Z. T3 l
Immigrant women and their families can now access a “household toolkit” crafted by a local service group for new immigrant families, through real estate agents. 1 F1 X. T; L; `) Q' W

In the tool kit are 75 common hand tools – like a hammer and screwdriver – as well a book on how to buy a home, a home maintenance schedule and other items. 9 o' r) }# h, q `: x; t0 W

“The tools are a symbol of hope for people trying to build new lives in Edmonton,” said Madeline Sarafinchan, president of the Edmonton Real Estate Board.

The program was announced by a group called Changing Together… A Centre for Immigrant Women.
