Position: Outreach Worker

Job Description
0 x) p  _( h# u7 U9 J9 @- promote the Centre’s ISP to community organizations, businesses, educational institutions, etc. by in-person presentations, phone or sending relevant information
% U2 |- `* v' M& t/ o2 E, b9 X- promote ISP in various media: newspaper, radio, newsletter, etc.
-  develop or update brochures, pamphlets, information packages, etc. for ISP
- provide support to ISP staff
- recruit new members to the Newcomers Club and maintain existing members
  t" I+ V8 q5 C) `6 V( k- promote, organize and coordinate the Newcomers Club’s activities
- outreach in different areas of the city where new immigrants are concentrated
- attend meetings relevant to ISP and outreach work to advocate issues and concerns of new immigrants
- adapt to a flexible working schedule to accommodate the program’s goals
- ?* T0 W' x" _( L, @: j; \+ f- fulfill the goals and objectives of ISP as contracted by funder
- report writing, data collection, conduct evaluations, budget management, etc.
1 \, U# f0 E$ l, c- recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with outreach activities
  S, v9 N; T9 |6 d! @9 ^, x2 h% B3 E- assist with front counter services as needed and assigned

& e* I# t2 l1 RQualifications
; }5 q( O+ p! y- degree/diploma in social work/human services and eligibility to be registered to area of discipline; relevant experience with community services/projects/immigrants will be considered
. ]. h3 |, R8 U+ K: n6 `- knowledge of immigrant issues and concerns, community resources and services available
" Q, o6 i. I* r. v- @- experience in working with community groups and community liaison workers
- good computer skills using Microsoft and Chinese software
- speak & write Chinese (fluent in Mandarin preferred)
5 W& O9 G# E8 ]" G: i+ h5 c- good interpersonal and people skills
- good organizational and coordination skills
" q5 B4 q! U* }$ T- valid driver’s license

Other
- must undergo security and child welfare check at own expense

Salary
- $12/hr for 17.5hours/week, April 18 to March 31, 2007
