Duties

    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
+ c- f3 D- [5 K    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
0 p# [! W  N( V7 s3 C6 c    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
' p: o# X3 o0 [2 v# ?: p1 }9 n& d    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
4 ~& [' w* M% R    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs

" {8 @) f% E! q4 ^    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities

Qualifications
: \. j  h& ^& ?9 M. @- `
  i3 }' _0 m! J    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
7 I7 R. |: ~: n    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
: n2 ~$ X9 |; c; p+ d    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
" F- ^8 j  o! f2 I4 p% L    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
    * Fundraising skills an asset
1 D; v" V5 V3 v; K: t    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills
& x# }0 f$ g3 S/ ]    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills

    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
) z8 A* Y$ o$ V, [    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
