the fact that the university housing has no more space for newcomers

While the average cost of living for a typical graduate student has

/ n" P/ u7 C+ W3 f! a; W P( C6 `exactly for the same amount of money that we were offered in our
, _) s/ P0 }% u7 k0 A- \; {) Z0 badmission letter (18000 CAD + 1500 CAD for international students
& e6 h8 ]7 q, F$ L, Z' |0 H=19500CAD. What I get is something around 1000CAD/month!!! after 9 O" [5 l' u. y- [' L8 F, m. j S! x
tuition fee and taxes). To make the argument easy to understand just
( [3 E: q% m/ Y0 C4 r! ?& o! simagine that a new student gets the same amount of money that I am 6 S, p. |- ~' u
getting now and I was getting 3 years ago but he or she (like all of 0 h" ]. N$ h8 [: R
us) has to pay twice as much as I was paying for housing when I was ) u/ z+ f6 [* l! l$ I* F; l
admitted and has to incur at least 70% more in average living costs.

Alberta has a remarkable record in absorbing various money and grants

students are the main pillars of research work at the university.

My objective in bringing all abovementioned points in your attention ) @0 C+ ?* _# V; q0 _3 ^
is to question the adequacy of financial aid for graduate and - {: \& d& Z2 q7 G- e! y
especially international students. Isn抰 it time for the GSA to take4 S1 H) |7 |; \$ b' ^" C; i5 K/ A

initiative in raising the issue of increasing financial aid for + Q: c9 Z- o5 Z3 N
graduate students so that the can afford this increase in costs? }$ d9 L3 n( W4 P
