4 F5 z; {* Q+ r2 S( v! YEDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.

The item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.8 T" p* f! H0 i2 D8 \

Police evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.

"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."" R2 r4 A% V; ~% u, A
