EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.
+ b) g3 O. I+ w) M, m- S- I0 t# q
, k2 [! B5 \% j; VThe item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.
! U# f; c& p+ H
1 ^0 @2 S) G$ b2 \Police evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.
* ?* z R3 K2 t- E: D' |# r7 p8 q6 j5 {* @# Q
"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."

The mall fully reopened around 10 a.m. |
