An ATV crash in western Manitoba has left a woman dead and a man, who was knocked into spillway, missing and presumed drowned.

; y, t- {; x/ B4 U# {5 p8 [8 YAccording to RCMP, a 58-year-old woman tried to drive an ATV down an embankment by the Rivers Reservoir spillway, just before 8:30 p.m. on July 12.$ b& y; Z$ j$ V( ]9 y# y1 l% v

She lost control of the machine and hit a 39-year-old man, who was fishing. The woman, from the town of Rivers, was pronounced dead at the scene.

+ z: J. U n# \! S1 k K# J, gThe man, from Brandon, was knocked into the fast-moving water and disappeared. Rescue efforts failed to locate the man, who is presumed drowned.: C* @% j! G- s, P" G& S+ ~* I( q
/ @. D. K/ ]8 Z4 k3 USearch efforts and the investigation into the incident are both ongoing, RCMP said.4 T3 R. D8 a. H/ W$ H; ^1 c

, l, s& ]- s4 ^. ?5 \& W- sA Brandon man is presumed drowned after he was knocked into the fast-moving waters of the Rivers Reservoir Spillway on July 12 by a woman on an ATV. The names of the man and woman are not being made public by the RCMP./ p# w! | Z" p ~1 ]2 o. ]3 ^* B
& I: ^1 m- a" M+ HRivers is located about 30 kilometres northwest of Brandon. It is near the Little Saskatchewan River, which enters the Rivers Reservoir, also known as Lake Wahtopanah.$ x* q' l3 K; m5 ^4 U
