Among many fascinating pieces are original magazine photos of the house from its heyday as a vice regal residence, original clothing items of the “Chatelaines” (or wives of resident Lieutenant Governors), and a coded telegram from Lieutenant Governor Bowen to Ottawa at a time of constitutional crisis. + @. This year only, Government House is adding an extra day per week of free public tours. Visitors will discover Edwardian-era family life at the home of Alberta’s first premier and founder of the University of Alberta, Alexander Rutherford. In 1911, when the Rutherford family moved into their new, stately brick home, it was among Edmonton’s most modern residences. Visitors can step into the historic atmosphere by touring the fully furnished house, making a craft, playing old-fashioned games and sampling cookies baked in the wood-burning stove. Reynolds-Alberta Museum - Wetaskiwin
' `$ i' A; e: GFamily Day visitors to the Reynolds-Alberta Museum will have a final chance to enjoy the museum’s current feature exhibit, Dinosaurs of the Field: Tractors that Built Alberta (closing February 28). The exhibit showcases giant gasoline powered tractors that ruled Alberta from 1906 to 1921, and explores the reasons for their ultimate “extinction”. Visitors can also find the perfect gift for an automotive, aviation or machine enthusiast at the museum gift shop and enjoy Chef Brady’s tasty offerings at Cruisers Café.

Special Family Day programming will be available at the Royal Tyrrell Museum all weekend long. Storytime on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday at 12:15 p.m., is free and perfect for the little ones. Located in the Devonian Reef gallery, science educators will bring a fascinating story of prehistoric creatures to life.
