A Fort McMurray man was announced Thursday as the winner of $21.8 million in last week's Lotto Max draw.

Chris Fowler, 55, is a heavy equipment operator originally from Newfoundland who has lived in the northern Alberta city for the past 30 years.

' M; f4 V) p. S' g) A8 x, dFowler had been carrying around his ticket for days before checking the numbers at a local gas station. Now he's making plans for his winnings.

"Help my family get debt-free, do some travelling, see the world," he said. "I'm going to retire next week."
