A$ Z) ~if you want a very high clarity and colour, then $10K CAD may only get you a 0.5 ct diamond if you don't care as much about colour and clarity, then you can easily get a 1.0 ct or bigger ring. typically, girls care more about the clarity and size. " L* p9 Q, \- |8 C+ \2 @the cutting of the diamond is also very important. a well cut 0.5 ct diamond may look as big or maybe even bigger on surface than a 1.0 ct diamond if it wasn't cut properly. 7 h C4 F2 m3 i
& x5 s' I5 E, @* |% i& |+ Ethe solitary princess diamond is the most popular style for an engagement ring. solitaty means a single large diamond (not a whole bunch of small diamonds or dusts but with the total weight added to a 1.0 ct) and princess means it's cut into a round shape on top (not square or oval shape)

the band (ring itself) can be found in white gold 14K or 18K. typically, the better the diamond, the better band it comes with. ie <$5000 ring usually comes with a 14K band but >$5000 ring will come with a 18K band.
