I know that Lake Summerside in Edmonton do have estate lots for sale at 400-500k. I have no idea how big they are. But there's powerline just a few hundred meters away.
It's seems you don't really know what you want. You first talked about "acreage", but then shifted the topic to residential lots. They are very different.

I strongly advise to focus on urban subdivisions, for the money you wanna spend, you can buy or build a pretty nice house in the SW. BTW, do you ever think about the water supply/sewage disposal problem that come with acreage living, these inconvenience is something which urban dwellers may not appreciate.

如果考虑退休以后住的话,建议你到温莎买。我去年买了一英亩,是一个大农田的靠路边的一个角。两边有水沟,非常平整的土地。这个月我种上了樱桃,李子,桃子,还打算种香椿林。水沟里我种了莲藕。土地里各种蔬菜都能种,如果盖房子,水电就在地头,马路对面住着人家。温莎这地方,工作不好找,退休绝对是个好地方,物价低,气候好。我相信20年以后,我们这波大陆移民快到退休的年龄这里肯定会有很多人相中的。我这块地离城里COSTCO 9公里,直线公路,交通非常方便。
