The ECBEA has worked closely with Edmonton Public Schools to ensure the quality of this second language learning experience.

Edmonton’s model Chinese Bilingual Program is getting the international attention of educators, business and government.1 L0 ^9 H* d( v, ~! E# M8 x
+ m' u6 i0 u0 e7 V. IContinued investment into this continuum of studies from kindergarten to high school graduation will surely pay dividends as XXXX XXXX suggested (Letters, Sept. 18).2 G# s; _ S5 o5 [1 @
& @% n' h! k% V0 g) I0 d1 V6 s5 X9 cWhat sets us apart is that students can start in kindergarten and Grade 1 without any knowledge of Chinese.. W; l! P0 m9 [! a

The Locations of the five elementary, four junior highs and three senior highs are accessible form anywhere in our city.2 Z+ F8 W" y6 U. i) a/ s
9 }! l" n" {! AMore than 1800 student learn to read, write and speak Chinese Mandarin and are exposed to the Chinese culture in our public schools throughout the school year. Many school tours have gone to China and some of our schools are twinned for educational purposes.
