FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization - O( I9 h$ |- ?4 O6 G
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
* y# f/ d/ N) v% R b" A8 [artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
2 U2 a6 v. ?" G+ t: T, Q( lemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 4 {$ @1 \) t# p8 u+ E3 A
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
, n1 ?, M' U7 F" |resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
) S- c+ v' V+ M2 `4 e* s, Escreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

" |: u! c5 Q, VJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive $ E3 C$ [0 O8 S, ^
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by , d% ]( ]3 ?% A" | o
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. - R" q3 e% U6 @5 N* @- O, _6 m3 R
L' x2 V6 ~0 L+ u5 Y, m4 k
Duties:
* k. w3 S6 n5 D" H I$ _; O* j# X- Assist with research on acquisition grants ' K7 Y% ^7 Z2 h! m$ J, S4 D
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities 2 O" j0 j& _- ^! C6 c# k
- Assist with equipment maintenance
9 C9 } T) `4 d' @2 Z9 x- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- C2 C' J2 ^7 r7 C; M- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
, t$ w8 X# t& Q% A* l/ ?3 ]- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

secondary training

- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks + T# K! P! S0 s8 a2 i

& C4 f( R$ A7 L7 G% c5 v8 l- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts + o+ Q! `1 x% s
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
: M8 W* g, b. b" h+ J- Advance organizational and research skills
1 O/ M& o5 E6 h4 { B- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
6 |! V, r. C+ i6 t- Strong team player abilities
% A' D2 ?/ t( U+ k2 K( M- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
