Master Composter/Recycler Program / Free!" E/ Z- a8 g, x/ {7 j7 U5 w: b
City of Edmonton, Waste Management Branch

Dear colleague: once a year, the Waste Management Branch hosts the
' y# F) W0 z1 x; l# |' q% L6 KMaster Composter-Recycler Program. Over a 3 weeks course schedule
: O4 M/ c. K$ O+ z" K; G7 v t(Tues./Thursday evenings and Saturday) volunteers will learn about* L& q- a% R" l# c6 i! B6 k+ D
environmental stewardship in our city, such as: history of waste0 s k( m+ F! V' ?! m
management; home composting; household hazardous waste;8 k# ?1 `, J' f# c+ s- X7 a. `! h7 @
vermin-composting and residential recycling. O5 D7 e% L/ d7 s# A
+ O& ? j) s8 BThis course offers in-class instruction as well as several field trips& j& Q/ J" h5 I; a7 Y
to various City facilities. After finishing the course, graduates
: B( y' w. Z3 |: @complete 35 hours of volunteer activity promoting the four R's:
' N0 O5 o3 ^" r6 Q1 Freduce, reuse, recycle and recover. Graduates become important" @5 ]! ?! Z. {" z- V$ N5 @8 d( n
resources in their communities as they broaden awareness about the
0 J( D9 ^/ V f: y dimportance of composting and recycling.

' p! p: |& X% U; z% u5 [/ j$ xExamples of volunteer activities include: help with Reuse Fairs & the8 {4 G, u% q* n# v
Reuse Centre; helping friends/neighbours with composting problems;" @9 _1 X7 s% G% T3 \
public education display booths; assisting with programs and
5 K; S2 n. }5 Hmaintenance at the City Compost Education Centres; assisting at0 R; B- Z4 C+ ]- V9 S+ {( ^& D
various demonstration gardens and general public and school/ M4 R3 V4 ^. a; ]6 `7 B" }4 T
presentations.

There are many other opportunities for volunteers to contribute and

most. Curious about recycling and composting and sharing your) _$ {2 h# i0 ~7 q8 {& D, }4 A" ]
knowledge with others, then apply to become a Master
