Responsibilities include:8 @! d% D3 ?* d

1. Chemical list and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS’s)
) J, Z3 y _2 o7 }• help complete up-to-date chemical lists for all laboratories within the department
6 a3 R. M4 B2 H, Q9 V7 }+ W• collect and obtain MSDS’s for all chemicals# H+ l/ J. l6 V# {
• make sure all chemicals are properly labelled and stored
, P4 `: ~0 _* P- o+ w6 }4 u• proper disposal of all unwanted chemicals2 K' c: R- N2 x6 V5 ^/ S" ^; n6 q# V0 {
• finalize chemical lists and then duplicate and label all MSDS’s for distribution to OH&S for the MSDS on line system.% J4 W& ~$ m3 f% i6 I
% }! \8 G) E6 s. r( M( J2. Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s) and Hazard Assessments (HA’s)* M7 m- l( ~1 ]7 Y- l: H1 U
• help update the department SOP’s and HA’s. This will include verification of existing SOP’s and HA’s and tracking any that are needed.8 j" v4 m8 x; d

( b f+ I7 [, U& H$ {( u3 Y h" |• help develop a tracking system for adding or removal of chemicals as well as continual updating and verification of SOP’s and HA’s $ O- M1 s+ |, }. z+ ]

Candidates should be inquisitive, thorough, and willing to learn. Some education and/or experience in safety is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment are required.

This is a two-month summer position, preferably commencing the middle of June, which will pay an hourly wage commensurate with education and experience. Final candidates will be asked to undergo a security screening.% v6 o- w2 F$ _. ?1 T3 j) L' F
