Alberta Finance, Edmonton - is seeking a highly motivated economist to join the Economics and Public
Finance group. This group is responsible for providing the government’s economic forecast, which underpins
$ L! ]- |# T/ O) I: rthe revenue forecast for the government’s fiscal plan.

Your main responsibilities will be to monitor current economic developments, analyze trends and assist in
; ?9 Q8 Q% g2 G$ J; Y4 E! Mpreparing the economic forecast for the Alberta government. Your analytical skills will be put to the test as you
5 l+ X4 h2 K: r( b: y6 p( x: }monitor developments within Alberta and the global economy and assess the implications for Alberta’s
2 h, v$ R) n4 ?; C- reconomic performance and major revenues. Your excellent written and verbal communication skills will enable
you to present the results of your technical analysis to a non-specialist audience.

You will work in a team environment and be comfortable in defending your analysis and forecasts to others in
7 L3 p! v* y4 _, S% t+ n9 z. Cthe group. The ability to manage numerous projects will prove valuable as you will have to meet multiple
deadlines. The ability to develop or enhance forecasting models would be a definite asset.

Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Economics is preferred. Equivalencies (such as a Bachelor’s Degree and
significant relevant work experience) will be considered. This position requires a strong grasp of economic
2 s3 P- Y- u4 @. `0 Q! D# p( Itheory and quantitative methods, familiarity with economic research techniques and knowledge of econometric
software (e.g. ESTools, Eviews, Shazam), and excellent communication skills.
