5 j/ q7 Y4 f" ?) QEdmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

! s: v6 P4 Q9 a/ \' P; ?• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.
& B& B- K6 I9 r7 }7 z) O1 w- x• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.
/ N( o" _" Z3 _3 M( a- W6 `' K• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.* P4 y( _1 N& B$ `. `. n
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather

• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
" h- g9 ]* g0 ?) P; v+ u• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.3 m+ i5 G- ?+ P6 G" H& j9 e
• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability
. N2 [2 U1 W! Z3 x" Fto be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger

% F5 C' f! M. h. T0 h8 ^6 X• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
6 n5 A) L) C2 [• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
6 u1 T1 F2 [0 S$ p4 }• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.
% j$ t9 C/ X9 w y; u: W# ]) O! K9 Y• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
) V8 X9 W9 J! U$ v9 O! s; Bshowing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period. + F) j S7 K' z! F) y9 m
• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill g5 c( K7 `' O7 _9 V/ o) X; Z) s1 `: J
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).2 J9 i( [* I5 O, Z9 i2 I3 l

• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly! s ^& H ~3 Y4 h7 g# O/ [* ~

Training Rate: $16.56 Hourly" X; t; I- ]6 |" ~2 `1 U9 \0 b7 v7 C+ u
Post Training Rate: $20.36 - $25.45 Hourly
