2 I+ k; n- K' N- U" C+ mEdmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

% v$ y' Q3 n1 N C* r8 ^( g• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.; z4 M# y ?# O2 A* d
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.$ s* F+ D$ O( C8 _$ U9 n8 m* [3 j# o
• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.

• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations. " W$ i+ G1 b% E

• Communicate effectively in a variety of situations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
C9 {5 Y3 p" \. j• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.% D7 M2 \8 r5 ^) A5 W
• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability , i5 z3 B3 u( `5 e
to be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
# N, m, Z: U8 M1 _/ O$ k• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years., g; d0 P6 \1 X5 T9 H" b2 p
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.5 Q- O# u' c6 q) d( |
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
) F c+ U0 j4 Y6 X) f! K1 R2 [5 F ?, Eshowing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.
/ }* @7 q' l2 n/ l• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill 8 p- D/ B5 {- i% F$ T" C1 j% r
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).% f) b, [) C7 b% A- I2 z8 E
• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program.

Training Rate: $16.56 Hourly
