Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.2 L) c" m Y9 _# V( n

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.
1 d) {( g' D# V( U- |• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.
" ?5 V& M( v9 o( x# ^( A; t• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.
2 u' a {, w: E• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather $ N. G4 A ?( Y6 V1 u
and traffic conditions.

• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
7 Z5 a6 T' b8 K5 R! L• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.( }+ x% f7 t- L, k/ s' h
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.# I8 \5 x3 a, o, q b5 S$ b/ ^
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) ! G0 G% z, C& z, ~/ ^# c
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.
0 D" K) D, H* M: d" ~' |• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill 7 T! ]. k7 s- ~0 |% H# @# z
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).0 f4 r* J+ d. U5 J
• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program.

0 \( A* P9 L" ^* lVarious hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week

Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly

Training Rate: $16.56 Hourly
