International Business Studies Summer Program Assistant

The University of Alberta - Centre for International Business Studies is
currently recruiting for the position of Summer Program Assistant - Job
No. 9246.

Salary to be paid will be $14.00 per hour (includes vacation pay, stat

Hours per week will be 20 - 30 - 20 during the first few weeks, then 30
* m" u, Q% V$ }4 B- 35 per week during the busy period. There may be an opportunity for
the student to stay on a casual basis (10 - 20 hours per week) once the
school year starts.

Duties include: preparing for programs by working with current staff at
6 }# P$ o5 P: S- E/ gCIBS to secure and schedule various program requirements (off-campus
venues, tour agents, goods and services, program materials and supplies,
1 F; ~3 @- F; @9 S" Hetc.); reproducing and distributing documents and correspondence for
participants, assisting to orient participants to the University and
their program on their arrival, and trouble-shooting for them during
their program; booking program venues, setting up for sessions,
assisting visiting speakers or invited session presenters, striking
venue at end of session; traveling as guide with groups on in-city
outings or site visits, or, occasionally, on overnight out-of-city

( n) n9 e6 l# l8 @" u: F1 @excursions); interpreting (non-technical exchanges) at meetings or
functions; translating, revising or drafting program-related documents
" v6 i" b- Z7 |$ _1 j. k) Dsuch as schedules, itineraries, notices, correspondence, PowerPoint
presentations, program binders, evaluation forms, etc.

7 }1 V$ |2 K) f5 sQualifications include: senior undergrad student; coursework in
Commerce, Education or Economics preferred, ability to communicate
1 u& [6 u" ^3 f) k+ ?fluently (oral and written) in English and Mandarin Chinese,
; R! I# O$ `0 m" @  bdemonstrates a high-level of self organization, initiative to undertake
a variety of tasks; ability to coordinate individual efforts with those
of co-workers, excellent interpersonal organization and time-management
skills; accuracy to detail; working knowledge of MS applications (Word,
1 r0 p6 I* V# o* ^Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook); administrative experience an asset,
- Z3 F+ ^5 M1 u  s$ k0 sexperience coordinating group activities an asset.
