% T H- W4 g4 nCalgary police have now laid charges against an 18-year-old Calgary woman following the death of a little girl at a crosswalk in the city's northwest.
3 e7 s$ z9 _- ]+ `Police Sgt. Doug McIlwraith said Tuesday that Angela Ta has been charged with passing a motor vehicle stopped for a pedestrian at a crosswalk, failing to yield at a crosswalk, and careless driving.
/ g1 f6 u/ Y7 E6 c TMcIlwraith says the charges could mean a licence suspension, a $2,000 fine or six months in jail.( V1 ~) R+ _$ f9 e; n; P4 W
Six-year-old Jenna Chang and her mother, Ye Qiao, were struck Jan. 18 by a black BMW while using a marked crosswalk at 32 Avenue and 37 Street N.W.- L; K( V( T) C) U# y! L7 i
Chang died of her injuries. Her mother is recovering in hospital.( I( x) F( f" n6 n
