Calgary police have now laid charges against an 18-year-old Calgary woman following the death of a little girl at a crosswalk in the city's northwest.. ~; u4 T; z7 C! t4 o
Police Sgt. Doug McIlwraith said Tuesday that Angela Ta has been charged with passing a motor vehicle stopped for a pedestrian at a crosswalk, failing to yield at a crosswalk, and careless driving.
/ b& W: ^; Y- I3 r* ~4 IMcIlwraith says the charges could mean a licence suspension, a $2,000 fine or six months in jail.
( @# _$ F( s. x( uSix-year-old Jenna Chang and her mother, Ye Qiao, were struck Jan. 18 by a black BMW while using a marked crosswalk at 32 Avenue and 37 Street N.W.7 a5 e% m8 L3 a
Chang died of her injuries. Her mother is recovering in hospital.
