A police investigation revealed that between August 15 and September 19, the unnamed company made 1,907 trips to the waste management facility located on Yellowhead Trail and 170 Street.# R! y1 Z& Z; t* v- m- s/ U, a- v
Police say the trucks were transporting loads that were overweight by a least one tonne each visit. One truck was recorded as being 17.9 tonnes overweight. _$ F8 n/ r' h( M' n
"The company is facing a fine of just over $3 million dollars," said EPS Const. Dave Beattie. "It's a big fine, I'll give you that, but for the police it's not about the value of the fine, it's about keeping these roads safe."6 F/ \: ~ Y* Q2 c+ m) ?- B5 }
Beattie explains that with overweight vehicles, braking can be a problem.
