An Edmonton-based trucking coming is facing $3 million dollars worth of fines under the Traffic Safety Act for allegedly operating overweight vehicles on city roads.
1 q+ Y0 U' u0 @+ l, B2 b& I1 {  `A police investigation revealed that between August 15 and September 19, the unnamed company made 1,907 trips to the waste management facility located on Yellowhead Trail and 170 Street.
8 _+ q6 l7 y4 ?: J: v& s: V) q7 _Police say the trucks were transporting loads that were overweight by a least one tonne each visit. One truck was recorded as being 17.9 tonnes overweight.
) x+ W! p7 H3 T0 A6 [: U4 `) `"The company is facing a fine of just over $3 million dollars," said EPS Const. Dave Beattie. "It's a big fine, I'll give you that, but for the police it's not about the value of the fine, it's about keeping these roads safe."
& ]  R, V* H( b# E+ m* ]Beattie explains that with overweight vehicles, braking can be a problem.
