EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.) d( W c; n* U: J i
: ^+ p+ q; Y0 c5 F8 ~4 T/ d& N2 @The item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.

6 y$ J) R+ q2 R! c' W& o7 zPolice evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.

"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall.". [1 \& D0 `6 j% q, i y( V; N
