$ l) Y* D3 Q# t  u1 \! L  \$ u) p; k& ]4 {$ T
3 v0 H+ L9 k% a0 ^
  Y! G3 Y4 b; @( f# S; W(1) You can not teach an old dog new tricks ── 照字面意思是:你不能教老狗学新的把戏。 (Some people find it impossible to change their ways; or older people can not accept the changes or new ideas.)

1 i1 i# Y. e5 n' yStop trying to teach an old dog new tricks; you are just wasting time.(别想教老狗新花样,你只是白花时间。)
6 v; o. N; j- q7 U; B( `Are you trying to teach an old dog new tricks? 2 X: P! W- B/ U9 \& l! N: E. l! }
He is impossible. Don't try to teach an old dog new tricks.(impossible 是指顽固成性、墨守成规的人。) ) t1 l+ \9 p' O
I have tried teaching an old dog new tricks, but it doesn't work.(注:教狗不直接用 teach,要用 try to teach。)
; W! [2 c3 L9 N
' m% I9 i7 F: L8 q5 ~7 A(2) All that glitters is not gold. (not every beautiful thing is valuable. All is not gold that glitters.
, s& X+ @4 i6 |/ w& U+ ~  h& Z
I told my students that all that glitters is not gold.
' _& |6 w) ~+ W6 K6 n) p' E9 j% J" N' X还有一句相似的成语: ( ^% Y- D+ \: A) ]" P* f
! x# S; O8 @/ T9 ]/ q( v

& ~' C5 m3 @% O7 O% N$ A4 P3 }: c# Y8 `( k) c5 K3 O
(3) Pepole (或 Those) who live in glass houses should not throw stones (或 rocks) ── 照字面的意思是:住在玻璃屋里的人不可丢石头。 (Nobody is perfect, so we should not criticize others.)
9 u# u, N$ D: D! F
# s7 g6 S- \2 S7 l. H+ iDon't judge a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes. - `) v* c: S7 S+ T# ^5 T
(judge = criticize; have walked a mile in his shoes = have understood his situation well enough)
0 I+ R' ?% ~  T另一句是: 8 A& F' ~: Z7 \5 y/ w+ x
# `/ E+ w( ^7 e/ a8 j+ F
Judge not lest ye be judged.
) ]# ~* @7 R5 p2 OIf you criticize others, you probably will be criticized ,too. - k+ ~* d8 {( B. D- [

$ g0 F& z+ s3 \+ M8 }所以我们也可以说: , x# u& D3 G6 U- a, U: U5 k" H

" N' n9 F9 X! r' |; ~
