8 c8 F! o- X& L2 |9 m- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
& c' {3 O; t, q8 Z& M- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements) K4 V! { m! U" N
- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines+ @+ H) u% ~" e4 q5 L3 o
- Select type and size of pipe required6 l5 m" A# {) t: N7 l5 j
- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools
1 H6 `4 {7 D& [. S6 u- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
4 I2 c' O8 y- l% V- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems
4 v& N9 W) Z! I5 c& s& J7 n8 U- Test system for leaks using testing equipment

- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system

( M- P' j& I( f" ^- Completion of secondary school
6 Z8 w! r( }/ e. H" j- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation 8 u; O0 |: e2 q* E$ S( O
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
' U1 _- a/ X* w% Q; P8 ]- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
8 w, T# E7 D% Y& `' M- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset
