- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment 1 a5 W) m8 W1 M" `
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements9 i/ U. ]1 z. p5 g/ j. I0 L
- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
& ~; R3 w$ C* o) x6 _; E. s# a- Select type and size of pipe required. b1 d: f0 ?2 T3 y; ?
- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools5 H0 L9 |. ~" {2 k8 L W
- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system( f: k1 {2 c! m( L
- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems1 A: _' k# ~, N. r
- Test system for leaks using testing equipment
* Z: C0 `* Q) u+ c- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system

- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation 6 X @4 v* A7 w& Z
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. R; {$ _7 B" W9 m$ K
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence( w# w- X' b, Y, x: j5 y
- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset
