Responsibilities and Tasks
; z; }4 D/ \/ U* c, h$ ]3 {0 Y2 H' B# s* X
- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
* K, A& d6 I, ~$ Z- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements6 i. L- u- F# {! F) W' |
- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines

- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system% C! L# h1 s$ U- |1 ^. O( H4 Z
- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems
$ C' Z) X$ N$ {7 ^/ ]- Test system for leaks using testing equipment
: q v6 f- ]2 d, P% T- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system
/ e/ y1 X) g! L( d- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system7 x1 b6 q& V F
- Actively participate in the Iyinisiw safety program

- Completion of secondary school/ j+ y$ }2 J# W2 M4 I; s
- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation
* W- T. o1 D% G% h2 _! {- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals8 w0 }5 K3 W `/ O+ F. c4 }
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence" c$ ^# }+ x4 g0 N. D: @& U; M
- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset
