now inside a phenomenal, incredibly responsive Nikon machine. At 36.3
- ~1 N9 E0 I0 q$ H+ r* `7 S zmegapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution M4 H: O5 A8 I3 Q( c& P% [
within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color
- q( D$ j9 S+ v0 Xmatrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance
7 ?2 O- }- O& A5 X1 win low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D8000 J- q* n. e; O( F2 }
allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject
2 e' J* w% G8 e3 W; \without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography
6 n, ~& E1 s$ I1 q# n/ a1 Xwas traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum P: s8 s8 f* A, y- E# `
image quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was4 _+ A: f/ i. F; {5 U
widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and5 ~- u( p# A2 c0 y
convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown
1 t- U4 B9 q" V( r0 Rbefore, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,

When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,

range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces0 @( ]# a! [7 _0 V' s0 w
the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a

9 U* [- t$ R; H+ Ywell as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.
: k' A9 ]- A8 R0 GAutofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor
! U8 q" R3 {9 f+ p5 w$ jhas noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is F; o. m2 f8 q: g4 p5 [
easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while
7 l+ [6 F r% z- z# K% valso feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
5 G7 O6 K. Y/ x! z6 l Vcameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features8 b! V& E- e# T
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality9 p# M& {- F$ ~. _! h0 k
prints and video.; p y) d: y0 C
To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is" K- M0 W" V, n& R. v1 z. I* E6 s2 _/ T
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models
, Q+ _, X) E0 S2 x6 `are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using" ~ q- Y3 c. g. N' m# y
countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first
+ Z* q+ {' e( z3 o* F$ ]7 i: Z& u" isight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws1 _) ^& B" n4 I" c& X8 x e
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of
4 c' i& v5 {- m- V5 kacuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I
# N, O& n, u' I9 {8 uam enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as) ~/ j/ D# V. m) ?$ ]1 }
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse
* F& i" |( R1 {( b: R1 g2 l7 j M& ephotography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add5 w/ k* }# h7 r2 K' h" E1 K8 y- W {
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the% S0 P( I* C- x0 f: P e
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express
, ?6 i* n6 A1 Dis that now I will think differently about the images I make.
4 g$ F) f. [% E; a/ \0 y3 jAs a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,
3 o2 g9 ?* ~8 L& @1 Q2 Ocompact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal' V: O$ V1 D/ ~) m$ u
artistic and client expectations. The Nikon D800 will set new standards for/ [2 r) g' I: H' {% ?
the high-end 35mm D-SLR market. I have never worked with a 35mm digital

now. Particularly, the live view mode enables extremely precise compositions2 q# J1 Q$ o# ?$ i, L
and easy focusing in dim lighting, which simplifies my workflow. Superior- I8 ]8 I3 N! l& X" j9 @" H
quality lenses such as the PC NIKKOR tilt & shift lineup are indispensable for
7 _9 c1 T/ \- ]architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they
: `' P Z: |! ^, nperfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly
4 B3 u2 q! g+ P0 [9 bclean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility3 M% x1 S1 ]7 l' K# w7 l; @
to work at unusual shooting locations and capture images in an exceptional7 I; A% ?: h2 g7 G% }0 v) \
range of light. It definitely takes my photographic versatility and image quality1 g, ?7 ?. I; Q% ]5 a1 D
