• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed- v3 p0 T( y# [% V% R
• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components
1 R8 E6 l. [5 g+ o• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers$ B2 ~! _% G9 Y
• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams
: e/ H# |2 I8 S! u/ E( v1 C• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place
p: {$ [, C; U% w" K/ ] L6 {• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment
; x( e6 ~" \/ o+ D! z1 s( ^• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools
, ]0 S Y6 r) [- y+ B; d• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting$ n! s& j5 ?% e- x% a
• Mix paint, blend and match colors( g, X; A7 ]* L! b* p* L
• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns B1 g* R& q% V2 ~
• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs

• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling

• Completion of secondary school is required
! [# H* d' [ k; K/ F/ e4 j• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program - E$ Y2 F! H! S

• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory
