Job Description:/ h$ \- H+ p. k# x. Y
• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed
9 C9 T, [0 U$ b" C+ I9 b+ s- q) v• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components
" H s- u) M+ l6 C+ x• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers% x( }8 A y6 N8 f, ?0 m
• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams5 |! ?/ ^3 g7 s4 [3 {: g
• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place
' p- z" C- F7 L+ B) {9 o6 d• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment. t( ?. C6 y: c$ e1 ~
• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools" i |, M- J4 e/ q- F0 E# H& X
• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting
5 c0 r" Q0 M1 k6 J" l6 o8 u. y• Mix paint, blend and match colors, D* x3 N1 m1 R
• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns
9 N2 [6 c) P( N" |$ o3 R) K* e* s• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs+ @. }0 }. R2 p; u+ I
• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation1 _; H5 a3 E8 c* h/ M* T$ E9 Y
• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling3 P7 x% I' Q) W4 q
Education and Experience Requirements:
9 b2 k4 _' H% L# h• Completion of secondary school is required2 D5 W7 e, h' N/ S, j
• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program 6 ?# W* j# z5 ^' R# O( o; y3 v
or
! y8 S% c* _" T8 R$ i% d- kA combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade
- f8 }- Q6 n8 B2 c9 i• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory
