• Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT).

immigrants are highly educated and experienced, yet many may find it/ {0 Z2 l( e J, N
difficult to integrate into the Alberta workforce. Some employers may not

What is the practice?

experience and competency-based training, such as applied academics or

The training components of ETIP assist participants in developing skills- M& B' J+ S$ P( [# |

• engineering-related training delivered at NAIT:

• first-aid training, and

Canadian workforce.

What is the evidence of success?
/ }2 J# {" v5 h! I5 c. x1 uAs of 2003, more than 80% of ETIP graduates over the past six years have
) ?$ r; v1 G6 a6 k& ffound engineering or engineering technologist employment in Alberta.! u- a7 X( L2 q- L' B& d
In 2004, 46 engineers graduated from the ETIP program. At the time of
+ O) K# A$ @5 M' ]- F9 H' l: {4 igraduation, almost half had secured employment in the engineering industry,
4 I% r3 |" p4 T2 M \: ^1 S5 R+ U0 jwith over 90% employed at three months post-graduation.1 T# f% k( U6 z! i' ^
