FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

Enterprise Data
9 M) l! U  b! P• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
3 b3 G' P8 m6 K& Y& B• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
4 K* v; [. I8 M& j• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
- a  H% B% O! s4 i! x7 `; a- V: F5 q• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
0 Q0 @$ |3 U$ ~0 y& R4 S• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
$ A4 c! C8 Z" R& t, S* r. h% q• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

! n* C" ?5 D% ~# o1 QSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- N! c3 E2 i4 g. u& \% p• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
) u5 _2 F' L6 @9 P3 g) w• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
  G3 a& D+ H0 n& M" Y• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
; ?2 r# s) r' I! h0 ~, i• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
* w$ f+ d/ L* q$ E# s- z- e• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
3 ]: g4 J" ~1 x! F• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
