Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 4 j$ O* `, n R* [/ c' e0 ? v
execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include: 8 X. a* \. U- C5 K" Y

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 2 n$ }1 C% k0 g; K8 E
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
" h# c" d4 }1 B$ a/ P6 |! i7 ]+ Bthe Board of Directors;
; k- V. B$ R! V* V- C! I• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 3 Q+ E6 _/ I7 O8 K' _$ d2 o
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 5 }* N& ^+ Q) @0 c2 k4 J' I5 _
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
/ |$ f3 ?! J# k/ a. J' n; F8 k• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 0 g( L" u3 @8 T: i
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
8 |* U5 r; `' w% k; P B* gthe board; ' V* ?: O: b: _! u$ ?1 k& O
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
3 V4 O2 e( @! i; [' A• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
& l, y0 A' G9 z# [- v! Pthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; , i+ z& D3 j6 w! _, w
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
) I* L3 p$ h' V" I# dchanging needs of the organization and community; ' @, m' A5 ^% {/ j; W( q- @5 M; h2 E
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
9 M( K ^% {& R* f$ r! ~commitments; / }/ W8 L0 _7 ~ `# \! @: J2 {, Z# m- R+ A
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
; Y# M3 Z1 Z# G( I/ U) `• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective # w U# ^: E4 d1 B% ^3 L
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
& l& j3 n% y7 W( a• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
: ^# l# @3 G' _+ ]• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to % ^4 H4 j# c2 ], U& ?9 G$ t
effectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
( }- C0 k3 Q/ b# _7 j( R. u6 `2 `the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
7 N+ z9 T* B& m+ h* G; u* Z, v3 J• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal ' V4 P4 z/ W2 p4 x5 n
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ! I( x( I6 f P# G0 E+ \- X/ ]: c+ I
the forthcoming year;
% ]9 H0 c" m- \" c# ]( a• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical / l# b1 p! D) _( v
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of / ^; W1 O$ _# {& p n2 ~
YWCA Canada; and

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. Q0 J# l3 y/ r+ g

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; c4 Y2 J/ Z4 X" v* R3 e2 m% f
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
6 l, J/ i$ v7 Y7 q. h2 dabilities;
" J4 @2 A8 F4 d0 q& L2 K! r• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
% [/ u+ }7 F- w% N5 zNetworking and Fundraising;
