Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 4 j$ O* `, n  R* [/ c' e0 ?  v
execution of the YWCA Strategy
5 Y/ A1 Q: b4 ], f3 R& I + d$ i: ^  |/ p) E4 p$ A
Specific responsibilities include:  8 X. a* \. U- C5 K" Y
! F4 }4 o' \& L: Z
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 2 n$ }1 C% k0 g; K8 E
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
" h# c" d4 }1 B$ a/ P6 |! i7 ]+ Bthe Board of Directors;  
; k- V. B$ R! V* V- C! I•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 3 Q+ E6 _/ I7 O8 K' _$ d2 o
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 5 }* N& ^+ Q) @0 c2 k4 J' I5 _
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
/ |$ f3 ?! J# k/ a. J' n; F8 k•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 0 g( L" u3 @8 T: i
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
8 |* U5 r; `' w% k; P  B* gthe board;  ' V* ?: O: b: _! u$ ?1 k& O
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
3 V4 O2 e( @! i; [' A•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
& l, y0 A' G9 z# [- v! Pthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; , i+ z& D3 j6 w! _, w
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
) I* L3 p$ h' V" I# dchanging needs of the organization and community; ' @, m' A5 ^% {/ j; W( q- @5 M; h2 E
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
9 M( K  ^% {& R* f$ r! ~commitments; / }/ W8 L0 _7 ~  `# \! @: J2 {, Z# m- R+ A
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  
; Y# M3 Z1 Z# G( I/ U) `•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective # w  U# ^: E4 d1 B% ^3 L
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
& l& j3 n% y7 W( a•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
: ^# l# @3 G' _+ ]•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to % ^4 H4 j# c2 ], U& ?9 G$ t
effectively and positively represent the association;
6 @; {" V% g, J1 `8 I: @: B/ O2 J& D- e0 b# S
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
( }- C0 k3 Q/ b# _7 j( R. u6 `2 `the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
7 N+ z9 T* B& m+ h* G; u* Z, v3 J•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal ' V4 P4 z/ W2 p4 x5 n
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ! I( x( I6 f  P# G0 E+ \- X/ ]: c+ I
the forthcoming year;  
% ]9 H0 c" m- \" c# ]( a•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical / l# b1 p! D) _( v
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of / ^; W1 O$ _# {& p  n2 ~
YWCA Canada; and
1 ?% H: U! R# Z% r4 Q5 K' y& g•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
) \  W; M( i5 l/ OForces.

/ ^+ i- N/ K4 v3 KRequired Skills & Abilities 3 j1 }2 K2 u  W( H  F8 ~/ `7 a3 h
•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations; 7 l, I. G9 v( W9 A6 a
•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus 7 l; X9 }. G; Y
around decisions, plans and actions; 6 _5 Q; m. D  M! E6 s
•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
; ?; d6 J' o( v5 Y: o•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable 6 A7 n. p- [9 j
and achievable with realistic timeframes;
! V7 n: _8 T  D# M•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks
0 b7 W6 U4 r9 x& b/ @; l7 {simultaneously; , x2 `2 s: }/ t$ v2 z4 B
•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build ' r8 v4 C3 S, {3 T! G
rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; 7 }1 X' j  S. }: `8 f* ^- f4 U. g0 \
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and
3 X( e, B( B' m' M•  Superior negotiation skills. 8 g. S8 {. N% e1 u+ Q4 }9 P

Required Professional Designation / Certification , t& U8 X- m- S: A% O" ]4 m
•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.   Q0 J# l3 y/ r+ g
; b$ K" a3 p( T' U( C1 e/ k; O
Required Experience 6 w- O, L. F5 ~' C, u" |
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;   c4 Y2 J/ Z4 X" v* R3 e2 m% f
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
6 l, J/ i$ v7 Y7 q. h2 dabilities;
" J4 @2 A8 F4 d0 q& L2 K! r•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
% [/ u+ }7 F- w% N5 zNetworking and Fundraising;
# ~/ d9 A- j6 w' @* K3 }•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
( z# Z! S( D  [- T5 ]2 ~and financial statements; and : r! x1 ?) W( k3 [6 q) @
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women   E! G/ F/ N2 v: o. A9 O% f% N* [
centered perspective.
