The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic   ?" B" C) G( W4 r; q! l( o

this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA

Responsibilities   t* K6 t- B9 `" Z

  |( L" Y4 E9 E# C/ R1 o5 AReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
. q. S0 u1 F( o; dexecution of the YWCA Strategy * N9 ?. Z& Y7 [+ S# K
: Y) {/ i% J% r
Specific responsibilities include:  
! o* a0 v) B& B# U
  G5 k1 e. `& J; P1 T# J3 X% g8 v•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
+ j; |' v6 @9 }/ o- wthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
  R+ ^. H- x6 Lthe Board of Directors;  4 g9 d) J3 \  [, h& }
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
  g) D0 j3 L/ F6 V: r& w9 uincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to ' W+ y* s1 u' K! Y6 X$ j* X' p4 z+ Y
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
0 w. x; |9 g# C, G•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
, {& S& z7 ^' S2 Q$ j3 zobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
$ m+ o( _( g* S! G, ?& Y6 B) athe board;  & H9 N3 T, F+ j! B( _( l
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
2 z( B0 t6 [9 L* Z  ?1 Y•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 8 u. J+ [1 p% T
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
9 R) {) q2 _! o; |3 y! {( Q; K% s•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 3 R4 \+ p8 v# P) s  h
changing needs of the organization and community; : }8 g/ m, N( L" x- B# o
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
4 [) R6 B& U, V9 a, ~" k; wcommitments; # g# a& z. T# y, L5 B
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  + J3 h& l' A2 `& S$ `+ F
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
' S. B, K7 R: o. ~selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
% l% O4 K' D- T1 C0 W2 ^•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
4 W5 ~, c6 W  a  p! F* u4 r% q•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
" p) a: b0 ^, Z) F3 jeffectively and positively represent the association;

•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring . _5 E3 _: w0 u7 K: s1 T
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;    N+ W/ H1 x8 b- g& V
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
- T. H! q; f! E3 j5 i. t% vperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
- g0 D" ~; a4 B5 {  ?& `) V& [the forthcoming year;  
3 n' V$ n* [+ t•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical ! c* |4 L) l! r* D9 R, F
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
+ {: o3 \! l% ]) v, DYWCA Canada; and
+ Z: G7 q' I& k( X•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
& y, W, F8 G6 e9 tForces.

Required Skills & Abilities
3 c) E# }/ Z; `) _•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations; ' \& {: W5 E- z" `5 ]
•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus
6 T) W" O9 [. N+ y3 @/ A, @around decisions, plans and actions;
  I1 E; r1 H' e•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; - O5 R  T1 w5 @' G; O/ X) z  E
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable 5 \- ?5 w" Q( B  c  b
and achievable with realistic timeframes; / [# M' V0 g1 S$ [
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks 3 Q" k# {+ r5 R: z* k6 a/ b8 }
simultaneously; ( l" }, O9 h1 ]# B' T; ?& B
•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build / j7 q, P$ Y8 }" h
rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; ; m4 R, I0 Q6 Y$ m2 O
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and
5 `/ e" v, K, ~  L3 T3 p•  Superior negotiation skills.

Required Professional Designation / Certification
7 n5 K4 f% l4 U# @•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.   R( v$ ~/ s/ k* y0 m

# i/ f8 N7 _7 W, G! f+ ]•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 9 R  T" h5 d* G# {$ j9 |5 C
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation ! F" k7 i- H9 H# b" h8 @' j( D
abilities; # ^; `+ P5 F. K7 w/ P3 R
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
+ n8 A( T# i2 VNetworking and Fundraising;
* e8 K4 m2 N& u, p$ G$ A4 `•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 1 h; ]* w- Y" |6 O" y+ I2 C: _4 }" Q
and financial statements; and ' c2 U  T% O: E. p
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women & p9 L3 D) J, v' L3 f
centered perspective. ) v$ n* u# E& s0 O
