Responsibilities 4 k( x% h. q$ e4 x
In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
W$ P9 q$ j F) `8 j3 j; \Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. 0 V$ a8 V3 v: _& I
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
. A9 V' n5 m% D5 q1 NOversees the financial and human resource management of the service. 3 X. O2 U6 Y0 d. w
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. ! j7 e2 a1 t& `. N! ~( c
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. . ?& J3 c' L) d5 W+ i5 @" e
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
& G& h6 q3 `+ q) X. VEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
# [ ~) R' [( N2 s( {Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
2 g+ A+ ?# m5 l2 C( mAssumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. + S! Q5 X! L: l8 T$ ~
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. + o) [; G5 G9 w2 _
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. % m! U% P5 h6 C6 G4 G& o* b
Qualifications
. r3 ~ ]$ b' Y9 K' f+ AA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. 3 W' F8 K ~/ c% h0 g
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
2 B% ]- D7 h1 w; U6 t% x/ y! @Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. $ t* Y/ i( H" R/ h7 j+ p
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
# K" r# Y/ c. o* S6 b0 VIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
; b" }; x1 w, w3 AProficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
