In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
: j$ l8 M) M$ f, J( {/ @; YPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. 9 w4 I. I$ H* H$ ~2 G* x
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
' `8 _( s1 ~8 w0 lOversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
) c a7 _# i- j" R2 c6 x5 aMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
- _, U: P( ~$ R" c) s9 N( E) QMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. * o! U+ r* g6 l; b
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. ! l) o* d, {( P9 K
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. + t/ ~/ b+ a; D: U
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.

Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. ' b6 l% X' A% E2 D" [
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. n; p: W; t. R1 v; M5 z; h, o
Qualifications & Q, s$ Q; J# s9 h; h# N1 ?
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
/ }3 { E5 k7 M% p; ?: |Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
3 M( R8 V: j2 ^4 p; ZPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
1 G1 s2 `. ~( k r ?7 sPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
; }5 O/ l6 Z: N& g! S+ R( ~" UIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. 2 t0 }6 H! V$ t3 @
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. V# _, Z4 K* N8 M: _( ^# }
