This fall, the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) will be launching a mentorship pilot program, where we aim to match skilled immigrants with mentors in their occupations.
* W% f7 t$ U" CEligibility Criteria
9 x, t! p" e: BAll potential mentee candidates are required to meet the following criteria:
) L4 [& T) _; t# Y- x•An internationally educated professional living in Canada for three years or less1 m5 Q$ ~: B& ]+ j
•Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education
. [; c0 C, {6 T9 M; a4 w- a$ V# N•Have Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher in oral English& h/ l5 B! L% k1 ?: ?
•At least three years work experience in their area of expertise outside of Canada
+ D l+ U( Y9 @+ M/ W0 j8 \6 E•No prior Canadian work experience in their field
( n }! o1 [- O, r5 P9 G; X: f•Be unemployed or underemployed – working for 20 hours a week or less
; K0 c4 o; m# ]5 ?- I$ v1 d% q1 ]•Be eligible to work in Canada/ @6 |# P4 U% U+ d1 s7 Y9 y
•Have a job ready resume and have completed a job search workshop7 z z9 g8 }) w4 u2 j
•Lack access to professional networks- ?5 Y) ~0 ~) i- T f
•Be motivated to participate and be open to learning

' r( u! C! ~% K. w& _) X1 {4 U _The maximum number of hours involved in the ERIEC mentorship program is 6 hours a month for a total of 24 hours over 4 months. This works out to approximately one and a half hours per week.
