24 HOURS OVER 4 MONTHS, T) Z; x% d3 Y! ?$ y' B* ?) T
This fall, the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) will be launching a mentorship pilot program, where we aim to match skilled immigrants with mentors in their occupations.
3 r2 c! l/ @2 q- D' U* J) nEligibility Criteria1 F ~3 Y" x; N! c# o. E
All potential mentee candidates are required to meet the following criteria:
5 e& V( k7 F+ r! S0 F•An internationally educated professional living in Canada for three years or less( P, l! B% F1 g; Y! T6 K
•Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education
$ C; y# {" N% \•Have Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher in oral English1 W' e( p# o! f1 j# ^' G9 B, m$ n
•At least three years work experience in their area of expertise outside of Canada
; R4 J+ x, I! C, G/ R) P" O•No prior Canadian work experience in their field
8 `; o$ }0 l4 s5 I1 g" z( \•Be unemployed or underemployed – working for 20 hours a week or less
. u/ P% K( H2 L, J+ N. O* V•Be eligible to work in Canada
- @+ P$ m7 e4 u•Have a job ready resume and have completed a job search workshop9 T5 q4 u2 z: ^# M# q1 _
•Lack access to professional networks4 G: N* P/ f. y7 W/ m ^
•Be motivated to participate and be open to learning" K4 {: e$ n) v5 y6 }" u- _) `
Time Commitment
3 d! A- K8 l* Z# G4 VThe maximum number of hours involved in the ERIEC mentorship program is 6 hours a month for a total of 24 hours over 4 months. This works out to approximately one and a half hours per week.
