This fall, the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) will be launching a mentorship pilot program, where we aim to match skilled immigrants with mentors in their occupations." o8 A x4 K8 z" t Eligibility Criteria. L. R# W# a2 M! A' _* X4 J* P" R
All potential mentee candidates are required to meet the following criteria: $ q# @9 h; T6 n3 H1 p•An internationally educated professional living in Canada for three years or less 3 N% \$ R e2 b7 I) g$ o1 S! E•Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education 8 k. L( e! a& D) W1 d l0 E8 j•Have Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher in oral English # Q1 ]6 B$ z; P•At least three years work experience in their area of expertise outside of Canada ) g9 w3 u$ b' A; ~+ F7 X. o! C
•No prior Canadian work experience in their field2 ]- k* N" x! [5 \
•Be unemployed or underemployed – working for 20 hours a week or less \8 u( Z0 U: N* X& d•Be eligible to work in Canada5 b0 ] ?7 L' g# Q
•Have a job ready resume and have completed a job search workshop0 z6 `9 ] @* Y/ I% S
•Lack access to professional networks 6 \/ \& I* d( }) K7 N0 y; V& e•Be motivated to participate and be open to learning# B. o* Q i% q# _: e Time Commitment $ `) {! E1 c( S6 r/ eThe maximum number of hours involved in the ERIEC mentorship program is 6 hours a month for a total of 24 hours over 4 months. This works out to approximately one and a half hours per week.' E3 t f0 N- \
