Under the direction of the Program Coordinator and in collaboration with CLSA Special * o- U: M/ {- }& K# M
Events and Volunteer Committees, this position will be responsible to: 4 c- Y& ]1 ~ N `# e
1 U4 s* ]5 L* Y. y3 KDuties: Special Events
# @, N7 r+ B, s, _" |Plan, implement and evaluate Special Events:
/ x4 n3 J! W2 b· Select and develop themes in collaboration with the Committee * \' ]8 k" J( D/ }
· Oversee event logistics: book entertainment, catering services and venue; assist 9 i+ O& t$ Y5 E+ A) `, M
with decorating; ensure tickets and invitations are available; assist with the
8 g- L; C% X7 ~& C9 o3 D4 D. I* [advertising of events; recruit, place and supervise volunteers for events; ensure + `2 L+ a# {3 W
set-up and clean-up; monitor event budget and complete evaluation of events.

· Attend and take minutes for Special Events Committee 2 U/ D0 X8 W0 g; D& ^3 q& o

d8 e* P9 m1 o& X* N: s+ \9 pAssist in developing and implementing a volunteer program:
1 q& B" ~1 [$ Z; T) d: f. K8 p" j2 e· Develop job descriptions for volunteer positions 7 O& ~* x; v$ U2 b, q6 r
· Recruit, interview, screen and place prospective volunteers
% [+ i2 `4 S( d! f2 ?8 ]- t8 T5 n: X H· Provide initial orientation and training for new volunteers
" k6 ~9 l' e9 {* E1 L· Ensure provision of recognition and evaluation of volunteers
; H! U' u$ {; g$ m· Complete program administration, statistics and records ; u8 ]$ c. f9 _- F% K

Qualifications:
% y* W# k4 t8 }* K8 `· Completion of 12th
! H& W1 f4 B8 l0 X Grade and a minimum of a Diploma in Recreation 7 q* s# y. M5 V
Administration, Volunteer Management or Special Event Planning or equivalent.
( A$ Z; X# {+ R% W( o· At least one year of experience in Recreation Administration and some direct 8 `/ R% V! a9 v# r
experience in conducting recreational, cultural or other related events 3 U2 B. G( o& {" ?+ B5 T& X
· Experience working with and managing volunteers
0 L2 M1 @# k9 _1 K; d3 g· Specialized skills and training in working with seniors # f8 k5 ] \- S8 |
· Ability to instruct, organize and supervise group activities and special events
7 `/ M8 U! E; C c· Current Standard First Aid, CPR & AED training

Hours: Flexible – some evening and weekend work # ?3 ^. C+ m s& o
