Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

2 Multicultural Summer Camp Program Students
% [4 F: K1 m. g6 U1 S4 p9 K(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)

Key Responsibilities Include
4 {5 N' ]3 {" p- iActivity Planning and Daily Activity. n8 r, z5 O) h
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.5 i |9 e5 I; l7 P, b3 p) A' w8 P
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
; p! M2 ^" F2 \• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, 3 D, r9 x7 }9 N4 \, h2 {+ U9 c; w
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
. s6 m8 B2 P/ t, D• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
' y( Q$ ?6 x8 I" ?4 _" D3 u: j D• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

The successful candidate will have:
( z1 z# e: ^4 F' T; H' Q# B• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting1 L% v5 C+ D) H6 O4 X+ }* V1 u6 D# W
• Experience with children
8 |6 C. C1 r5 J+ M2 Y7 |" d; c" f• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
* H1 F, ~2 T3 y( I4 W) ]• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.9 x) d. o. ^) W
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.* m, _+ ~ ^3 O7 T. ~) T
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources# d: w" o! Q2 W, ~* ]5 j* h
• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check " v! w$ [" ^ q/ D2 c& r. i/ k
• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check : H _1 p. Q5 N* j N2 Q
