FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
6 \/ O  G6 ]6 x# w% ?$ u+ bsummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
  E! Z% ]3 p  a' _: |; |support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

. |: z. R2 |! T4 D$ H7 K1 c3 dFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
# X8 k( O+ V- R; }( ~8 Aemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
+ L: u9 ?' C' B7 Y# Fand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
/ V) t1 j7 o8 ]resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
, L5 j, ^- [: rscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
# W  n0 ~/ u( l9 A5 ~Alberta.

& o; D. m9 ]) U7 w) z  R! ?Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
  {3 Q, R3 `/ W0 A7 K  E9 I9 nFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

6 z% {' L4 N8 lDuties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
; x) l5 }% y  M& r7 |' D' e  L- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
' x& D3 u- \; R! s# D- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
8 p& O1 s1 _5 B: n! v/ M  r" W(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
0 D6 J/ }3 |& s# I( ~secondary training, university preferred
. R9 p8 L$ p4 `, V- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
8 N& k: f8 V3 T6 H* x- R$ q- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

2 U0 r9 M8 G4 A7 Y6 G; ?Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
$ S9 B' }) C+ O: {2 o- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
8 R! ^$ E3 _/ k5 i- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
