Y9 D: t6 m) l% K2 \; gFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
9 Z% _5 I- Y$ Ewhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
- Q1 T+ E" @+ j" e6 |+ ^emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
, ?5 H6 ]! o$ H; n- band media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 2 w( o( P7 w- x* d5 u1 Y
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
5 g e0 G# j3 Q7 A: I1 D& yscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive / g5 ^) q* x) |
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by # t6 U, F7 r5 @2 ]! G' X5 `
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.
+ S1 c+ z9 O( g) K6 o 0 K0 ?) L: Y3 X6 p, V2 {% j
Duties: ; C& G, C+ i# L' z7 i6 I; b% {
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
; p8 ?% _# i2 O/ V2 q7 c4 d e- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
+ l! |: p, D' |% T- Assist with equipment maintenance
$ X4 y& }% ]/ O; s! |- Assist with production logistics for programming events
/ B9 ^& g" R8 d$ \& }, [, m. g- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
4 r) y0 Q; p8 @" s- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
7 Y: D u+ d$ ~2 m, [1 v H5 b0 i- Provide vacation relief

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-& }" ?* u: }" Y5 q

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
1 R: k5 { j t1 d- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
, N2 Y* H; [8 a0 k" j e- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment / L1 N1 _( X( @4 y" \# K( O) K
- Advance organizational and research skills
6 i9 L( C* b. t: K7 W- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
1 T" }4 I6 r n7 w# `! y- Strong team player abilities
& H+ e7 \/ i, m4 ^6 \- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
