FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization 1 x/ o5 y6 n: I* J) s6 D2 b$ {
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media . P6 F. d, J6 {7 B* `
artists from Northern Alberta. & x5 _* b5 ]" s" Z- M. N
; G4 U4 q' ]8 E9 S- Q' W) v1 s6 c5 I8 tFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 6 k3 F" n) `8 G
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
{/ e0 a- i0 k, Aand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
$ W0 N, z1 G3 l3 U2 Aresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and 9 ~1 v# U5 m _# i
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive 8 v0 p/ F0 s; z& I5 X+ P
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
, X+ }* a6 t5 k* Uassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. 1 N5 R$ c$ `9 l8 O
8 S/ D5 w$ Z' A/ b8 W4 K8 A" ]Duties:
3 E4 T( L5 ~0 ~$ v% p- Assist with research on acquisition grants 5 D: l' ^$ {6 U2 X8 |
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
2 b5 u. `9 n9 w+ [) t& I- Assist with equipment maintenance 9 d3 v6 _ o* i6 P. l3 p8 C- k
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
9 W4 V* t" g! W9 {8 ]% h9 Q! y- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
& P! e3 H4 J/ C3 g3 a* R4 w- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
) M. i* a0 S" `, q% }% M, E2 `4 \& C& {- Advance organizational and research skills 1 a/ \; T$ b+ q2 `5 E4 c
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
: j& Y# Z; U3 x5 i2 x, C% n5 R- Strong team player abilities
