A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.0 F3 R4 F7 s' V; m( y& _* I
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and# u$ X- p; U8 z( B% N" u: d
knowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.$ P& V8 F: H. ^, Q# T
The program includes the following elements:
1 W0 k; x8 @- I4 Z) Z% K% T• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)
1 ]7 P( Q$ s5 _0 J5 G* b* ]• Standard Child Care First Aid/ V" {2 h+ f- n9 {/ N" K
• WHMIS
" z, a4 E! ~3 X8 {, Q- \• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care
( ~4 W- s8 n( m0 B• Components to improve communication skills
: M5 v7 {8 ^3 N E• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search

Eligibility Criteria
( m$ q1 B2 C5 x7 r• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen
3 |# z; c# |9 ~# q! ~9 H7 iof Canada
6 N7 r5 L/ z+ Q* T$ H0 ], H& k• have a Social Insurance Number
/ V4 F# Q( Z7 Y" R3 q& O0 m• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check( `) m+ \, G3 Q: Y# W, e
• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent
& j: C6 c% h" E, |0 R• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time, f7 n" _5 z* @- a y& M
program
2 L3 Y' U5 v# _Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet+ ? ^; Q5 _7 r$ z
the following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:7 g! C5 _7 j4 r2 K+ K' Y8 |, l
• be unemployed or underemployed. k6 I8 f; v: s% q
They CANNOT quit their job to take the course: b- l/ ^$ j9 G0 W+ ~; B
• meet the financial eligibility criteria
