A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.

knowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.

• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)# h6 o: z" p- B7 v! x
• Standard Child Care First Aid9 y; I) ~1 z3 _7 i' \; m2 a
• WHMIS
" K! u" A8 J# t( m8 ~- T! U9 ~' v; M• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care. X x5 Q) i+ j4 t
• Components to improve communication skills. c% ?- v0 Y Z8 ?
• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search( _, c. \7 D9 Y! p
• Practicum Placements, _; \; _9 H/ Q6 h% {) A+ r# x5 A
Eligibility Criteria
& ^8 ~$ U$ a' u6 \( N• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen6 k' c. N8 @ D% B' o
of Canada
: J7 `0 R' W0 k4 _3 [. o• have a Social Insurance Number
- U I) Y F6 _• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check9 ^* A% |/ F& q- F1 O7 m
• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent
: N+ K" H) C8 P5 R• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time
; A# h1 ^* Z" D2 ~) Fprogram, E) ?3 N3 ^, b2 o/ K# r! M& ?
Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet- j" j& {, _% a5 ~3 l; ^; V
the following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:# J2 S! l4 H" B/ Z z, X+ W2 Z
• be unemployed or underemployed.$ R# J+ @% A% e5 D
They CANNOT quit their job to take the course" L3 O5 b4 D+ A. O3 c: q
• meet the financial eligibility criteria0 g% [! O) O: D" [
