The circumstances leading up to the shooting are still under investigation, but police believe the incident is not random and is likely gang-related.

Meanwhile, one male is dead and another is in police custody after an altercation between two groups in an alley early Sunday morning, according to an EPS press release.* P4 o; X. T" V8 \7 _! \

At approximately 2:45 a.m. MT, officers spotted a vehicle being driven the wrong way on Gateway Boulevard near Whyte Avenue.* |; @0 t4 w+ Z, \; X! P% m( @/ g
8 c; G" E+ O9 h4 o8 X# vUpon stopping the car, the officers learned that one of the passengers, a 24-year-old male, was seriously injured.

He was taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries.% P$ U) Z+ I3 a5 P7 B2 W& O7 ]2 U$ X

A police investigation revealed that the three male occupants of the vehicle had been involved in a physical altercation with two other males and a female near an alley south of Whyte Avenue, between Gateway Boulevard and Calgary Trail, which resulted in one male being stabbed.
