The circumstances leading up to the shooting are still under investigation, but police believe the incident is not random and is likely gang-related.

! ~8 z; g4 f" k; u6 bMeanwhile, one male is dead and another is in police custody after an altercation between two groups in an alley early Sunday morning, according to an EPS press release.' C. R) C% T6 I/ p

At approximately 2:45 a.m. MT, officers spotted a vehicle being driven the wrong way on Gateway Boulevard near Whyte Avenue.

: \/ j1 t, m' l j q( ?Upon stopping the car, the officers learned that one of the passengers, a 24-year-old male, was seriously injured.% O6 p0 I9 B- q) p7 L

He was taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries.

X8 g2 w) B* E8 a& z% y" b2 bA police investigation revealed that the three male occupants of the vehicle had been involved in a physical altercation with two other males and a female near an alley south of Whyte Avenue, between Gateway Boulevard and Calgary Trail, which resulted in one male being stabbed.
